PACCAR Inc. PCAR showcased its financial prowess by reporting earnings of $2.27 per share for the first quarter of 2024. The company’s consolidated revenues, encompassing trucks and financial services, stood at $8.74 billion, marking an increase from $8.47 billion in the same quarter of 2023. Positive Performance Metrics

Leading the charge, revenues from the Trucks segment hit $6.54 billion in Q1, outperforming the prior year quarter’s $6.41 billion. Global truck deliveries amounted to 48,100 units. Despite the segment’s pre-tax income of $881.6 million falling short of estimates and decreasing 1.4% year-over-year, the performance remained solid.

The Parts segment also saw an uptick with revenues totaling $1.67 billion, up from the year-earlier period, but slightly missing estimates. The segment’s pre-tax income reached $455.8 million, marking a 4% increase year-over-year, though it marginally lagged behind forecasts.

Financial Services emerged as a bright spot, with revenues reaching $509.3 million. Despite pre-tax income decreasing to $113 million from $148.8 million in the previous year and falling short of projections, the segment showed resilience.

Notably, PACCAR’s cash and marketable debt securities stood at $7.72 billion as of Mar 31, 2024, signifying a healthy financial position.

Dividends and Future Outlook

The company announced a quarterly dividend of 27 cents per share, enhancing shareholder value. Looking ahead, PACCAR envisions capex and R&D expenses for 2024 in the range of $700-$750 million and $460-$500 million, respectively.
