Ivanka Trump, the eldest daughter of former President Donald Trump, has made her debut on TikTok, despite her father’s previous attempts to ban the platform in the US, citing national security concerns.
Although Ivanka’s TikTok following is currently modest, with just over 300 followers, the move marks a significant departure from her father’s stance on the social media app.
This development comes at a time when President Joe Biden‘s administration is also engaging with TikTok as part of efforts to reach out to younger voters, despite maintaining similar concerns about the app’s security implications.
During his tenure, Donald Trump’s administration sought to block TikTok in the US, alleging links to Chinese entities that posed risks to national security. However, legal challenges prevented the ban from taking effect.
While President Biden has revoked his predecessor’s executive order, his administration continues to monitor apps with foreign ties closely, with TikTok being restricted on government devices due to its alleged connections to China and questionable data practices.
Ivanka’s presence on TikTok distinguishes her as the first member of the Trump family to engage with the platform, a move that contrasts with the absence of the current Trump campaign from the social media space.
